I have a permit to sell A2A2 Guernsey Raw Milk as well as grass fed beef. I also raise ribbon winning Rex Rabbits as well as several different breeds of chickens, chicks and hatching eggs. In addition I raise rare breed sheep specifically CVM Romedale. I also offer AI services locally for just cattle at this time.

Explain your background or how you got interested in your chosen field?:

I have always been involved in farming from a very young age.

What do you think helped you the most to make a career as a woman? What is the biggest factor that has helped you be successful?:
|
I am also a Registered Nurse. I worked in the healthcare field for approximately 35 years but I have since left the profession to be full time on the farm. I believe having a career as an RN has been my biggest factor to being successful even though I am no longer working in the field I still use my skills to care for my animals, crops, garden etc. It is a nurturing lifestyle.

As a female leader, what has been the most significant barrier in your career?:
|
I would say having the strength. It can be difficult for us as females lifting very heavy items. Even pulling calves is difficult as a female. We just don’t have the strength in our wrists to get calves turned at times.

What mistakes have you made along the way and what did you learn from them?:
|
Making mistakes is apart of life. It’s part of being who we are : Human. Having animals requires a watchful eye and attention to detail. And above all else KNOW YOUR ANIMALS.

Do you or did you have a woman leader as a mentor or are there specific women who inspired you and why?:
|
No I don’t or didn’t have any mentors.
|

You are a busy woman. What do you do to relax and maintain good mental health?:
|
Simply being involved in agriculture is relaxing for me. I can spend countless days and hours with my livestock and not truly feel fatigued. It is a much different feeling than practicing as an RN where mental fatigue was debilitating. I do however enjoy gardening, sewing, crochet, knitting, machine embroidery and logo designing.

|
I have both a website and a Facebook page. I would say Facebook advertising has provided the most value.
